Four drivers made their first trips to victory lane in 2005 on the fast 3/8-mile Independence Motor Speedway.
In I.M.C.A. modified action, Adam Johnson was looking to pick up his first win in the division as he set sail from his outside front row start. Johnson took command at the start of the race, leaving a number of cars to do battle behind him for the runner-up spot. Joey Schaefer settled into the second spot on lap six and worked to reel in Johnson. Schaefer made the pass for the lead on the ninth circuit of the 20-lap event as Jerry Luloff made his way into third. Meanwhile, Vern Jackson worked his way through traffic and into third when Johnson retired to the pit area with a flat tire during a lap 15 caution. Jackson, using the high line, made his way around Luloff as the flying green waved, and then around Schaefer for the lead as the field drove through the final set of turns. Jackson sped to the victory, his first of the season, ahead of Schaefer and Luloff. After an uncharacteristically sluggish start to the season, Curt Martin made his first visit to the winners circle in the I.M.C.A. late model 25-lapper. Martin passed Drew Johnson on lap six and never looked back as he drove to the impressive victory. Johnson and Dean Wagner chased Martin to the checkers. Justin Temeyer took the lead on the fourth lap of the 15-lap I.M.C.A. stock car feature and never looked back on his way to his first win of the season. Temeyer, who started the event in seventh, crossed the line ahead of Norman Chesmore and Dan Trimble. Brian Kunkle used a pole position start to his advantage as he led all 15 laps of the B modified feature to score his first win of the year. Kunkle survived a handful of caution flags to cruise to the win ahead of Danny Dvorak and Joe Docekal. The only repeat winner on the night was found in the I.M.C.A. hobby stock division. After a pair of cautions through the first two laps, Josh Steere made his way into the lead on the third lap of the 15-lapper. Steere, who started the event eighth, led the rest of the event non-stop to take his second win of the season. Travis Michels and Tim Swope completed the top three. RESULTS I.M.C.A.
