A season-high 128 cars were on-hand to compete in 30 events at Independence Motor Speedway.
The I.M.C.A. hobby stock makeup feature from the June 4 rainout was the first event to see action. Adam Gebel set the early pace in the 15-lap contest. From his front row start, Gebel assumed command at the drop of the green and held the point until the race went to caution on lap 11. Rod Grother, who started the event last in the 19-car field, was running eighth when the yellow was displayed. He restarted the race in third when the caution, which involved a number of cars, forced many competitors to the pits. Following the restart, Gebel paced the field for two more circuits until Vince Buchholz and Grother made their way around the leader. The stay out front was short-lived for Buchholz, however, as he suffered mechanical problems and retired to the pits. Grother led the final circuit to score the incredible victory, his second of the season. In the regular hobby stock feature, Paul Shepherd made his first appearance since opening night pay off. Following a mid-race caution, Shepherd made his way around race leader Don Arnold to drive to the win, his first of the year, ahead of points leader Patrick Stansbery and Arnold. Joel Brasch held the early advantage in the I.M.C.A. late model feature. Brasch pulled to a half-straightaway lead as Tysus Pattee and Dale Hackwell battled for second behind him. From his sixth row start, points leader Darin Duffy went to work on the high side and made his way into a battle with the leaders on the 10th of 25 laps. Just three laps later, Duffy marched into the lead and drove away from the field to earn his third win of the season. Pattee and Hackwell completed the top three. Damon Murty was seeking his fourth I.M.C.A. stock car win of the season as he continues his charge to the top of the national points. After starting 11th, Murty worked past Chris Wessner and into the lead after just five laps. With just three laps remaining, the field went under yellow for debris on the speedway. On the restart, points leader Jarod Weepie went to work on Murty and passed for the lead on the 18th of 20 laps. Weepie went on to score his first win of the year ahead of Brian Irvine and Dan Trimble. Mike Gill was in search of his first career feature win in the I.M.C.A. modified division. Gill led the 20-car field throughout most of the 20-lap event until Troy Cordes challenged late. Cordes mastered the high side as he chased down Gill, passing for the lead with just three laps to go. Cordes led the final laps to take his second win of the season and extend his points lead. Jerry Luloff and Gill finished second and third. Joe Docekal took command on the fourth lap to motor to the victory in the B modified division. Docekal took the win, his second of the season, ahead of Kip Siems and Tony Olson. RESULTS I.M.C.A.
